Prof. Dr. Ayman Abdel-Hamid’s Biography
Prof. Dr. Ayman A. Abdel-Hamid is a professor of computer
science in the College of
Computing and Information Technology (CCIT) - Alexandria, Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime
Transport (AASTMT), Alexandria, Egypt. In addition, he currently holds the
position of Head of Computer Science Department. Recently, he held the position
of Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research. From Oct. 2008
to Aug. 2012, he held the position of Manager of Computer Networks and Data
Center, AASTMT, where he led to completion the design and realization of
AASTMT’s state-of-the-art Data Center. Moreover, he is affiliated with the Computer Science Department, Virginia Tech, USA as an adjunct professor as
part of the VT-MENA program. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of
Science in Computer Science, from the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria
University, Egypt, in June 1993 and August 1998, respectively. He received his
Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Old
Dominion University, Department of
Computer Science, VA, USA in May 2003. In the past, he held an assistant
professor position in the department of
Computer Science at Lamar University,
TX, USA. He regularly serves as a technical program committee in a number of
international computing conferences and regularly serves as the conference
coordinator and technical program co-chair of the International Conference on Computer Theory and
Applications, Alexandria, Egypt (ICCTA). His research interests include
computer networking, distributed systems, mobile computing, network-layer
mobility support, computer and network security, and cloud computing. He is a
member of IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, ACM, and ACM SIGCOMM.
